Janelle Monae has never been one to be dedicated to one genre. Her music is all over the place and I love that about her. She's so awesome and it really comes out through her music how eclectic and edgy she really is. In the case of Dance Apocalyptic, its a mash up of the bubble gum pop music (like Jackson 5, early New Edition, etc.) and that ukulele luau/California style mix. Its a very interesting and creative combo. Its a cute song. Something to listen to around the house, play at a light cocktail party or upbeat dinner party. This is a easy going song despite the uptempo beat.
As an artist Janelle Monae is awesome. I like her style, her witty lyrics and her cool swagger. Her music is bold, fresh, and unique. It can stand on its own, which makes her original and sort of a pioneer in her own right.
Her other single Q.U.E.E.N. feat Erykah Badu is really really really AWESOME! Its got a great vibe with the dance track and subtle breakdowns. Its too hype. So listen for yourself here's Dance Apocalyptic and Q.U.E.E.N. feat Erykah Badu. Enjoy:
Lyrics for Dance Apocalyptic
[Intro]
Bands that make her dance
Apocalyptic now
Bands that make her dance
Apocalyptic (Woo!)
Bands that make her dance
Apocalyptic now
Bands that make her dance
Apocalyptic
[Verse]
You're goin' crazy
The hitmen always spy you
Do that dance!
Smokin' in the girls' room
Kissin' friends
It's over like a power book
It's floatin' in the bathroom stall (Ah!)
You're so freaked out!
Worried about the market
You bought a house!
But I'm allergic to the house bitch
Credit card
They bought a new wife
Poor shattered little lonely men
[Chorus]
But I really really wanna thank you
For dancing till the end
You found a way to break up
You're not afraid to break out
But I need to know
If the world says it's time to go
Tell me should you break up
Smash, smash, bang, bang
Don't stop!
Chalanga-langa-lang! (ooh chanlanga-langa-lang)
But I need to know
If the world says it's time to go
Tell me we should break up
Smash, smash, bang, bang
Don't stop!
Chalanga-langa-lang!
2x
[Verse 2]
You got a life
But there's zombie in the front yard
Take a bath
But nothing gets the funk off
You're on TV
Rockin' and a roller coaster
Dangers love that rock and roll
Sick and tired
Of bubble tasting plastic
You want to cry
But -- real bitch
You're asking why
The pain is always equal
But enjoy this -- espresso brown
(Uh uh, uh uh!)
[Chorus]
But I really really wanna thank you
For dancing till the end
You found a way to break up
You're not afraid to break out
But I need to know
If the world says it's time to go
Tell me will you break up
Smash, smash, bang, bang
Don't stop!
Chalanga-langa-lang!
But I need to know
If the world says it's time to go
Tell me will you break up
Smash, smash, bang, bang
Don't stop!
Chalanga-langa-lang!
2x
[Bridge]
You're goin' crazy
The hit men always spy you
Do that dance!
Smokin' in the girls' room
Kissin' friends
Keep a rockin' and a rollin'
Cause' the dangers love that rock and roll
You're so freaked out!
Worried about the bomb threats
You bought a house!
But I'm allergic to the house bitch
Credit card
You're forking down the --
Just to make enough to pay your rent
[Chorus]
But I really really wanna thank you
For dancing till the end
You found a way to break up
You're not afraid to break out
But I need to know
If the world says it's time to go
Tell me will you break up
Smash, smash, bang, bang
Don't stop!
Chalanga-langa-lang! (oh baby!)
But I need to know
If the world says it's time to go
Tell me will you break up
Smash, smash, bang, bang
Don't stop!
Chalanga-langa-lang!
2x
Look at cha!
You're just like a little old earthquake
Break it! Break It
You got to break it!
Ain't no order in this court room
Smash, smash, bang, bang (you all going to jail)
Don't stop!
Chalanga-langa-lang!
[Outro]
What's the matter?
Your chicken taste like pork?
You have triplets instead of twins?
Does your food taste plastic?
Grandaddy, I think I wanna dance.

Lyrics for Q.U.E.E.N.
[Intro]
Girl, this is crazy
Let me tell you
[Verse 1: Janelle Monae]
I can't believe all of the things they say about me
Walk in the room they throwing shade left to right
They be like, "Ooh, she serving face"
And I just tell 'em cut me up and get down
They call us dirty cause we break all your rules down
And we just came to act a fool, is that all right?
(Girl, that's alright)
They be like, "Ooh, let them eat cake."
But we eat wings and throw them bones on the ground
[Hook]
Am I a freak for dancing around?
Am I a freak for getting down?
I'm cutting up, don't cut me down
Yeah I wanna be, wanna be Queen
[Verse 2]
Is it peculiar that she twerk in the mirror?
And am I weird to dance alone late at night?
And is it true we're all insane?
And I just tell 'em, "No we ain't" and get down
I heard this life is just a play with no rehearsal
I wonder will this be my final act tonight
And tell me what's the price of fame?
Am I a sinner with my skirt on the ground?
[Hook]
[Verse 3]
Hey brother can you save my soul from the devil?
Say is it weird to like the way she wear her tights?
And is it rude to wear my shades?
Am I a freak because I love watching Mary? (Maybe)
Hey sister am I good enough for your heaven?
Say will your God accept me in my black and white?
Will he approve the way I'm made?
Or should I reprogram, deprogram and
Get down?
[Hook]
[Spoken Word]
Even if it makes others uncomfortable
I will love who I am
Even if it makes other uncomfortable
I will love who I am
[Breakdown: Erykah Badu]
Shake 'til the break of dawn
Don't mean to sing so tough
I can't take it no more
Baby, me and tuxedo crew
Pharaohs, it ain't my tomb
Crazy in the black and white
We got the drums so tight
Baby, here comes the freedom song
Too strong we moving on
Baby this melody
Will show you another way
Been 'droids for far too long
Come home and sing your song
But you gotta testify
Because the booty don't lie
No, no, the booty don't lie
Oh no, the booty don't lie
[Verse 4: Janelle Monae]
Yeah
Yeah, let's flip it
I don't think they understand what I'm trying to say
I asked a question like this
"Are we a lost generation of our people?
Add us to equations but they'll never make us equal.
She who writes the movie owns the script and the sequel.
So why ain't the stealing of my rights made illegal?
They keep us underground working hard for the greedy,
But when it's time pay they turn around and call us needy.
My crown too heavy like the Queen Nefertiti
Gimme back my pyramid, I'm trying to free Kansas City.
Mixing masterminds like your name Bernie Grundman.
Well I'mma keep leading like a young Harriet Tubman
You can take my wings but I'm still goin' fly
And even when you edit me the booty don't lie
Yeah keep singing, I'mma keep writing songs
I'm tired of Marvin asking me, "What's Going On?
March to the streets 'cuz I'm willing and I'm able
Categorize me, I defy every label
And while you're selling dope, we're gonna keep selling hope
We rising up now, you gotta deal you gotta cope
Will you be electric sheep?
Electric ladies, will you sleep?
Or will you preach?"
Her upcoming album: The Electric Lady is available for Pre-Order on iTunes.com right now.
But will be available for purchase otherwise on September 10, 2013.

Iggy Azalea is a peculiar one. Honestly I didn't listen to much her music until I came across this song Work. Iggy Azalea became popular when she was apart of 2011's XXL Freshman Class (which is the Next Big Thing in Hip Hop). After that she was everywhere. Just like Nicki Minaj. Featured on many songs. Pictured at parties, rumored to be dating or bedding certain celebs. She was on her way. But then a series of complications in her contracts with record labels derailed her but instead wallowing she went a different route. Took her talents across the pond in the UK market and became a sensation. Now back in the states and releasing new music we come full circle to the song Work. Work is upbeat with a hardcore beat and heavy bass. Its a good club and radio play song. I really like the version ft Wale, Wale is one of my favorite rap artists. Iggy Azalea is pretty cool. She got the Ke$ha vibe, but she can be a lot rougher and hardcore. I would have to listen to the rest of her music to say how I really feel about it. But so far, I like Iggy Azalea and as long she carves her own niche she will be just fine. Stick to what works for you Iggy and you'll go places. For now you got a fan in me! Check out Work and some other music by Iggy Azalea (#nowplaying Bounce)
Lyrics for Work
[Intro]
Walk a mile in these Louboutins
But they don't wear these shits where I'm from
I'm not hating, I'm just telling you
I'm tryna let you know what the fuck that I've been through
[Verse 1]
Two feet in the red dirt, school skirt
Sugar cane, back lanes
Three jobs, took years to save
But I got a ticket on that plane
People got a lot to say
But don't know shit about where I was made
Or how many floors that I had to scrub
Just to make it past where I am from
[Bridge x3]
No money, no family
Sixteen in the middle of Miami
[Hook]
I've been up all night, tryna get that rich
I've been work work work work working on my shit
Milked the whole game twice, gotta get it how I live
I've been work work work work working on my shit
Now get this work (x4)
Working on my shit
[Verse 2]
You can hate it or love it
Hustle and the struggle is the only thing I'm trusting
Thorough bread in a mud brick before the budget
White chick on that Pac shit
My passion was ironic
And my dreams were uncommon
Guess I gone crazy, first deal changed me
Robbed blind, basically raped me
Rose through the bullshit like a matador
Just made me madder and adamant to go at em
And even the score
So, I went harder
Studied the Carters till a deal was offered
Slept cold on the floor recording
At 4 in the morning
And now I'm passin' the bar like a lawyer
Immigrant, art ignorant
Ya ill intent was insurance for my benefit
Hate to be inconsiderate
But the Industry took my innocence
Too late, now I'm in this bitch!
You don't know the half
This shit get real
Valley girls giving blowjobs for Louboutins
What you call that?
Head over heels
[Bridge x3/Hook]
[Verse 3]
Pledge allegiance to the struggle
Ain't been easy
But cheers to Peezy for the weeks we lived out of duffle
Bags is all we had
Do anything for my Mama, I love you
One day I'll pay you back for the sacrifice
That ya managed to muscle
Sixteen, you sent me through customs so
All aboard my spaceship to Mercury
Turn First at the light that's in front me
Cause every night I'mma do it like it's my last
This dream is all that I need
Cause its all that I ever had
[Outro x2]
Now get this work (x4)
Working on my shit...
These are some of the other songs by Iggy Azalea from her mixtapes to her songs from her stint in the overseas market.
Lyrics to Bounce
[Intro x3]
Make it bounce
[Verse 1]
I don't wanna hurt ya but I'm about to work ya
Watch your mouth drop real low
I'm turning you up, I'm burning the clutch
Full speed, both feet to the floor, feet to the floor
DJ running it back once more, time to party that's all I know
Grab somebody tell 'em, "Baby, baby, baby let's go!"
[Hook]
Bounce, make it, make it bounce (x3)
Shake it, break it, make it bounce
Bounce, make it bounce (x3)
Shake it, break it, make it bounce
Oh-oh-oh-oh (repeat)
Make it bounce
Oh-oh-oh-oh (repeat)
[Verse 2]
Iggy Iggy, gettin' 'em tipsy
Tippin' in brah, to hundreds and fifties
Pullin' up, NASCAR, black car
Shittin' on everyone, sippin' whatever we feelin'
Real real good, hands to the ceiling
Dancin' we dizzy, we spinnin' we spinnin'
All about money, the night's never ending
We party till morning, tomorrow we kick it
[Hook]
[Verse 3]
Let ya hair down and shake that shit, shake that shit, shake that shit
Sweat it out, go nuts in this bitch
Dip it, spin it, and watchin' my hips
I see you watchin' my hips
Crazy, move your body like Swayze
Round and round, shake it, break it, make it bounce
It's a fucking celebration, go-go-go
Girl shake 'em down like you made it, get low-low-low
Then show the good like you're wasted, pow-pow-pow
And spray the crowd with amazement, fo' sho-sho-sho
[Outro]
Go nuts, hands up, get crazy (we go) (x3)
Go nuts, hands up, get crazy
Make it bounce (x3)
Go nuts, hands up, get crazy
Oh-oh-oh-oh (repeat)
Bounce, shake it, break it, make it bounce
Oh-oh-oh-oh (repeat)
Bounce, shake it, break it, make it bounce

Well Ladies and Gents it seems like Hollywood is in the business of remakes! From Alice in Wonderland to Snow White. Even Red Riding Hood got a live action film. Even though Cinderella has been remade before (there are even sequels to the films Cinderella II and III) this another installment for the Big Screen!
I was a big fan of the original Cinderella film. I can't wait to see how they create this Cinderella. The other remakes of Cinderella that were big hits for both TV and Film my favorites: Ever After; A Cinderella Story and of course Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella.
Ever After was a unique form in the way it was portrayed by all the actors involved. In this movie only one of the sisters was wicked along with her step mother. It was still at its core about Cinderella, but in this case it was a more in depth story of her fallout with her step mother and how it came to be a major division in their household.
In Rodgers and Hammerstein's version the cast was very eclectic. Two wicked step daughters one african american one white. An African American Queen, Caucasian King, and a Asian Prince. It was a very very diverse cast but the acting was sublime and you almost forgot about the ethnicity of the cast.
Anyway I can't wait for the adaptation of Cinderella. It'll be interesting to see what spins they put on Cinderella or if they change it at all. But with this cast, I don't think Cinderella is going to be a verbatim adaptation of the 1956 Animated film. I think there will be some twists and turns in that. I can't wait.
No release date for the "Cinderella" reboot has been announced yet, but filming is reported to begin this fall in London.
The movie will be right along the lines of the original movie. It will star:
Cate Blanchette as the Wicked Stepmother |
Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy God Mother |
Directed by Kenneth Branagh |
Lily James of "Downton Abbey" in the title role as Cinderella |
Richard Madden of " Games of Thrones" as Prince Charming |

Album Release: Kanye's "Yeezus" Album Dropped Yesterday, Critiques Love It! But Me...I'm Not So Sure... (Review Inside)
6/20/2013 05:00:00 PMAlbum Cover Art for Kanye West's "Yeezus"
Just a few days ago Kanye West welcomed a new addition to his family and it was his beautiful little girl with long time girlfriend Kim Kardashian. Then a few days later his album "Yeezus" dropped and I was stoked. I love Kanye's music. He is a master of mixing old with new, the foreign with familiar and creating something spectacular!
But in the case with "Yeezus" I'm not feeling it too much. On some #realtalk I'm scared of the album. Thats no joke. I was amped when I found out the release of the album. I listened to a few tracks (Black Skinhead, New Slaves, On Sight) and then I had to stop for a minute and just process what I had heard. After the track I Am a God feat. God, I just was like WOOOW! To be honest before you judge and claim blasphemy listen to the lyrics of the song first then make your decision. I admit when I saw the title of the song I was like this dudes tripping. But you need to listen to the song first, of course there is a lot of ego tripping and all that but Kanye has a lot to say in that song and its worth the listen believe me. Yeezus is angry, gritty and raw. Its something that can't be played all day long. Its an album you listen to your trying to get amped up or your pissed off. Sadness, anger, rage, vicious are all words I would use to describe this album. But in spite of all that I do have some favorites: On Sight, Hold My Liquor, Blood On the Leaves, Send It Up, and Bound 2. I like these tracks, the lyrics are a still a little jarring but they are really great songs. The twists and turns of this albums records are so dramatic its just crazy how he created this.
Personally I'm just not that angry. Hearing that kind of anger pouring out of someone scares me. It really does. It makes me wonder if he didn't have this avenue to vent, how would he?
Here's what some of the critics said about "Yeezus":
Time Magazine & Consequence of Sound - "Yeezus is an album alternately metallic, manic. It is melancholy brilliant." Read more: Time.com ABCNews Music - "It’s a pleasantly menacing record often delivered with a punk-like, venom-filled ferocity." Read more: ABCNews.com MTV Hive - "Kanye’s sixth solo album is dedicated to his self-serving manifest destiny to cum all over the world and every Corolla driver in it; a 40-minute fever delusion of fisting, imperfect racial relations, and slow pastry service." Read more: MTVHive.com HotNewHipHop.com - "A hybrid of many sounds and ideas, “Yeezus” is an ambitious expansion of West’s sound palette." Read more: HotNewHipHop.com
These are just a few of the reviews. See all the major and small media outlets agree, Kanye has a hit album. So all I can say is Congrats!
*By the Way: Check out this Psycho Inspired Promo for Yeezus

John Legend's new single is titled Made to Love. The has a strong african drum at its core but its still has John Legend's signature sound. John Legend's new album a very popular and famous executive producer by the name of Mr. Kanye West. The album is aptly titled "Love and Future" I really like all of the singles off of this album. The Beginning was sensual and slow, something that is truly made for love making. The Who Do We Think We Are came out and it was vintage John Legend with an added hip hop vibe (given by Rick Ross). Now his third Made to Love is a beautiful song feat. Kimbra. Both voices compliment each other beautifully. I love this song and I have every album John Legend has made. I'm a big fan and can't wait for the album's release.
John Legend - Who Do We Think We Are
The Beginning - John Legend
In case the Sound Cloud link doesn't work here's a YouTube link to Made to Love:
John Legend's just too cool not to listen too. You gotta check out these singles and then buy the album when its released.

Well Beyonce is telling the WORLD how GROWN she truly is. If you have been listening to the music on Mrs. Carters on the latest Pepsi commercial then you would've had a snippet of the song. LOL. Grown Woman, its a cute song. First LEAKED single off her ANTICIPATED album Mrs Carter. Gotta nice island vibe to it with the Caribbean sound. Nothing bad I can say about the song its cool. The lyrics are a little generic but in this case the song really isn't about the lyrics. The song is just explaining the various aspects of her that make her Grown. Her body, mindset, everything. Its quick and to the point It really should be (even if she didn't intend for it to be this way) a dance song. Not to say that it shouldn't have lyrics that make sense but the beat is so live, that you could've said anything and it would sound good. And in this case Beyonce almost did! LOL Beyonce you got hit in this song. I like it, its a smooth mellow beat but its still uptempo and high octane all at the same time. Sure fire Club Banger! Summer Single for Sure.
There are so many Fan Created Album Covers and Possible Covers for the single. If this is a single release, here is some of the fan and professional single cover art:
P.S. Sounds like Gospel performer and RnB producer J. Moss is chiming in the background. But I could be wrong. He has a distinctive voice and its hard to not notice him when he sings. So If you are on this song Shout Out to You J. Moss I See or Rather Hear You! Song is rumored to be produced by Timbaland.
Do you think #GrownWoman is it a hit? Check it out and Comment Below!
