Fifty Shades of Grey is finally releasing its trailer and it looks really intense but I can't go by the trailer. Sometimes these movies show the greatest parts during the trailer. But I will try to be optimistic! The trailer was so exclusive that it was first released on the Today Show. Which was interesting. I mean there was plenty of hype and buzz. No need for the exclusivity. The internet would've spread this faster than the Today Show. I mean seriously! Anyway for your enjoyment (and I know I'm late) here is the trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey:

Many times I've wanted to read this book series and I actually have the first book. I just haven't taken the time to sit down and read it. It seems very much like an extremely sexy yet naive coming of age story. Which doesn't appeal to me. I started reading it a while back but I just didn't finish it. However I want to read it before I see the movies. If this movie does well which I expect it to, then the second and third books will be put into film form as well. And just for a little bit more of an incentive: Beyonce is on the soundtrack for this film. She is reviving and remixing one of her biggest singles: Crazy in Love. Its going to be edgier, slower, and intense. Right along the lines of the films.

With all the drama, excitement and absolute love surrounding Magic Mike's success (BTW: there is a sequel coming out soon!), it was only a small amount of time before and urban version of the movie would coming to a DVD or hopefully fingers crossed a theater near you.

I have yet to sit down and watch Magic Mike all they way through. I love Channing Tatum but I gotta admit I wasn't as into the movie as I thought I would be. The eye candy of Joe Manganiello (True Blood, One Tree Hill), Channing Tatum (22 Jumpstreet, The Vow, White House Down), Adam Rodriguez (Delco! - CSI Miami, I Can Do Bad ALL By Myself), Matt Bomer (Neal Caffrey, White Collar!), Alex Pettyfer (Endless Love, I Am Number 4)  Kevin Nash (Big Sexy! Any wrestling fans out there? LOL, DOA: Dead or Alive) and of course Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club, MUD) was enticing. I mean come on these guys are very attractive. But with that being said the movie was geared toward the style of a Chippendales type of thing and that just wasn't appealing to me.

Chocolate City will be the complete opposite of Magic Mike. It has to be. Because the world of Exotic Dancing for the Males is a whole other ball game. It's a multi-million dollar business. Women pay thousands of dollars to see their favorite guys dance. Its seedy, gritty, sexy, and very very raunchy!  I'm assuming for the movie it will be cleaned up a bit but do some research on facebook, YouTube and Google. You will find an abundance of videos and photos of male exotic dancers who take it to the max! Full frontal nudity, partial nudity, sexual suggestion, oh my goodness it would make a nun PASS OUT!

Anyway Chocolate City will star Michael Jai White, Tyson Beckford (You know I've never found him attractive? He's not what I would consider sexy. But whatever works for the rest of the world I guess.), along with Romeo Miller in the leading role (still unsure if this is fully true gotta do some more research) and Eruika Pratt will play his love interest. Jean-Claude LaMarre will also star and direct in this film. If your unsure of who Jean-Claude LaMarre is he is a popular Indie film director. He directed Gang of Roses I and Gang of Roses II: The Next Generation. His latest film was Color of the Cross.

So here's the basic synopsis of the film:

Chocolate City will follow the life of a young college kid named Devin. Who gets enthralled in the seedy world of Male Exotic Dancing because his money troubles. He runs into the owner of a male strip club who convinces him to try out for amateur night. One night and Devin is hooked on money and the sea of screaming women. But in that time Devin makes a strong enemy in Adrian the former star attraction. Adrian begins to see his star fading and knows that his time is running out as long as Devin is still in play. Devin struggles to juggle his relationship with his girlfriend Carmen, school and his new found fame. But most of all he's having an internal battle himself. Religiously this is wrong and he knows he shouldn't be doing it. But the money is good and he just can't seem to keep himself away. Eventually Devin will have to chose: Will it be money, fame, and popularity? Or will it be Carmen, religion, and peace of mind?

According to Deadline, LaMarre has been working on this project for over 2 years (prior to Magic Mike's 2012 release) and when Magic Mike came out it reassured LaMarre Chocolate City was definitely a film that needed to be made. The basis for the film is similar. Money troubles, stripping, fame and popularity, jealous girlfriend, etc. The big glaring difference of course is the cultures and the religious aspect. Not sure on the rest of the cast. I'm sure there will be more eye candy for us gurls to drool over. LOL Guess we'll have to see how this all turns out!

Chocolate City was set to film this past June. No word on when the film will be released but I will keep you posted when it comes down!

In case you have forgotten what this movie is about let me refresh your memory:

Zoe Reynard has the perfect life: excellent career, beautiful house, financially stable, loving/FAITHFUL husband, wonderful children. But she can't help but feel like she's missing something. This movie was adapted from the novel of the same name Addicted by Zane. It really is a great read. I opted for the audio version of this book and let me tell you it was intense. I couldn't stop listening to this book for days. And when it was over I listened to it again. Zane is a great erotic writer but she also makes it very clear in her books that the eroticism is just the tip of the iceberg. If you've never read her books you should. You would be pleasantly surprised by what you hear or read. Depending on how you prefer to receive the information ;).

Zane's Addicted will be in theaters October 10th

This would classified under the suspenseful psycho-thriller. Idris Elba is playing a character that most of us have never seen him in this light. He's always a good guy that everybody falls in love with. Or a lovable bad guy. But in this movie No Good Deed Mr. Elba has entered into a whole new genre....creepy alpha male.

No Good Deed tells the story of a woman named Terri who lives in a home on the outskirts of town. Her husband is leaving to go out of town for a business trip and she's left home alone with her children. The story takes a dark turn when a handsome yet charming stranger knocks to use the phone claiming car trouble. Terri tries to help but when she returns to the door to provide him assistance he has disappeared. Little does Terri know Colin is in the house and about to cause some serious terror and fear.


I could be bias but seriously I want to see this movie! I'm a huge Idris Elba fan. I don't know its just something about him. And in this movie he's even more sexy as strange as it sounds. Any woman who doesn't see this dudes sex appeal is CRAZY! The one thing that made me weird out a little in the trailer though is when he forced Taraji to be in shower with him while he showered. She's pleading and begging and all he does is look at in this seductive evil way and then says....Well you just have to see it for yourself man. ITS OFF THE CHARTS CRAZY! Its like a psycho-thriller lifetime movie without the cheesy acting.

Produced by Guillermo Del Toro and directed by Jorge Gutierrez, The Book of Life is a visually stunning Animation picture that is set in the Mexican tradition of the Day of the Dead. Where spirits/souls return and roam the earth. Its main story centers around a battle of love. 2 men are vying for the heart of the lovely Maria (played by Zoe Saldana): Manolo (Diego Luna) and Joaquin (Channing Tatum). In the midst of this battle, two powerful entities La Muerte (Kate del Castillo) and Xibalba (Ron Perlman) place bets on who will win young Maria's heart. Not one to play fair Xibalba cheats and Manolo ends up having to embark on an adventure through three worlds facing some of his greatest fears. All to make the ultimate choice be with the woman who has stolen his heart or fulfill the expectations of his family.

This movie is just a stunning representation of Mexican culture and its celebration of life. Its not too cliche' and it just looks so beautiful. Never mind the fact that it stars Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana, Cheech Marin, Diego Luna, Gabriel Iglesias, Anjelah Nicole Johnson, Danny Trejo, Ice Cube, and More! It's a definite must see!!!!

Melissa McCarthy is starring in a new comedy! Melissa McCarthy is the leading lady these days in comedy. She's got a new movie due out in July called Tammy. Here's the synopsis via TammyMovie.com

Kevin Hart is a filmmaker's dream! Starring in his first film of the year (alongside Tika Sumpter and Ice Cube) Kevin Hart is raking in the moolah for the movie Ride Along. Ride Along decimated the box office this weekend over its rivals Lone Survivor and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, by bringing in a whopping $47 Million! Lone Survivor brought in $23.2 Million and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit brought in a measly $17 Million (it cost $60 Million to make).

If you're unsure what Ride Along is about well here's a little break down:

For the past two years, high-school security guard Ben has been trying to show decorated APD detective James that he's more than just a video-game junkie who's unworthy of James' sister, Angela. When Ben finally gets accepted into the academy, he thinks he's earned the seasoned policeman's respect and asks for his blessing to marry Angela. Knowing that a ride along will demonstrate if Ben has what it takes to take care of his sister, James invites him on a shift designed to scare the hell out of the trainee. But when the wild night leads them to the most notorious criminal in the city, James will find that his new partner's rapid-fire mouth is just as dangerous as the bullets speeding at it.

Kevin Hart and Ice Cube have been doing the press tour for this movie for at least a month now and it seems as though their strong efforts have paid off! Kevin Hart is no stranger to the box office: Let Me Explain, grossed a little over $10 Million in its opening weekend. Overall its domestic gross (USA) was over $32 Million, while its foreign gross was over $73 Million. He's co-starred in other films that were hits as well: Think Like a Man grossed over $32 Million in its opening weekend. Even with all his success Kevin Hart is still humble and down to earth, a trait that is usually lost in most people who achieve his success. In an interview with Vibe Kevin Hart said,

"I laugh all the time because I can't believe where I am in my career. The fact that I have yet to really acknowledge and embrace it is what keeps me motivated to do so much more."

Gotta love Kevin Hart. Congrats and much love on all your success!

Disney's Maleficent has a new trailer and its visually stunning but the real stand out is Angelina Jolie playing the role of Maleficent. She is dark, mysterious, and evil. But despite her evil nature you are instantly drawn to her beauty and mystery. I like the fact that they took a different route with Sleeping Beauty. They went from the point of the villain and gave insight into her and played the movie with her as the focal point. Which I thought was absolutely BRILLIANT!

Maleficent explores the untold story of Disney's most iconic villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent (Jolie) cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king's newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora (Fanning) is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. There is a new movie coming out in February called Repentance. Its about a man who reinvents himself as a self help guru. He helps a man with psychological issues whose trying to deal with the death of his mom, not to mention the fact that his wife and child have left him alone in the bayous of Louisiana. Its a crazy trailer and I can't wait to go see it. Its a predominantly black cast in a horror/thriller style film. This strange to see because there aren't very many films with all african american casts that are under the genre of thriller/horror. So Repentance is going to be a great movie scary but good. Years after a drunken car crash that almost took his life, Tommy Carter has reinvented himself as a therapist/spiritual advisor who advocates a synthesis of world religions and positivity. This film is really interesting to me. I love psychological thrillers like this. It stars Anthony Mackie, Sanaa Lathan, Forest Whitaker, Nicole Ari Parker, and Mike Epps.

Okay ladies and gents we have another movie for 2014 and its called the Other Woman. The trailer really gives away the entire film at its core. You have a man who has been juggling multiple women. Cameron Diaz's character is a serial dater who thinks she's finally met the man of her dreams. Well after dating for a while she stumbles across his wife, played by Leslie Mann. Instead of fighting they quickly become good friends and together find out about his whole stable of women including the bombshell Kate Upton. All three women (Kate Upton, Leslie Mann, and Cameron Diaz) come to a mutual understanding that they have been played and its time for payback. And if your wondering whats Nicki Minaj's place in this movie well she plays the colorful, snappy, witty assistant to Cameron Diaz.

In my view of the trailer is looks like a typical revenge movie with a twist. Not many women would team up or even befriend their husbands mistresses. Most of the time they're ready to slap, fight, kick, and whoop ass. LOL. But I guess in light of the circumstances its good to have some camaraderie amongst us girls lmao. It kind of reminds of me John Tucker Must Die. Only its not set in high school and its gonna have better acting DEFINITELY!

Well if you've never seen How to Train Your Dragon then you are really missing a treat. The first installment to the franchise is about a young boy named Hiccup who befriends a dragon despite his village and families strong stance against them. In the latest installment of the franchise Hiccup is older and stronger. He's also become a bridge between dragons and humans. He and all his friends now have dragons of their very own and they currently ride them as protectors of their village.

It seems like a cute movie for kids and teens to go see. I know that some people feel like animation is only for little kids but animation is so much more than that. They tell real stories. Sometimes they are even better than real live action movies. They don't have all the frill and thrills of live action movies (guns, violence, explosions well they don't most of the time). But at their core animation movies are sweet, family oriented, lesson teaching movies that EVERYONE of all ages can enjoy!

How to Train Your Dragon 2 hits theaters June 13, 2014!

Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler team up again for a new romantic comedy/family film. The last time Drew and Adam teamed up it was for a romantic comedy called 50 First Dates. It was about a ladies man who falls in love with a woman who has short term amnesia. Because of the amnesia Adam Sandler had to constantly remind Drew Barrymore of the love they share and try to make her fall in love with him all over again everyday for the rest of his and her life. Well it did okay in the theaters and I have to admit its one of my favorite movies with Adam Sandler. The SNL Alum is one of my favorite comedians and I love his movies (well most of them LOL).

Now Drew and Adam have a new movie called Blended.  Here's the synopsis:

Recently divorced mother of two boys, LAUREN REYNOLDS (Drew Barrymore), and widowed father of three girls, JIM FRIEDMAN (Adam Sandler), have a disastrous blind date that puts them off dating for the foreseeable future. However, when the two purchase a discount “Familymoon” vacation from Lauren’s best friend and business partner, JEN, they wind up at an African resort with their kids in tow. Initially acrimonious, their relationship skews, gradually and irresistibly, towards romance.

From the trailer it seems to be a funny film. Blended hits theaters Memorial Day Weekend!

I'm in love Channing Tatum. He's an awesome actor and just seems to be an all around cool person (wish I could meet him). Jonah Hill is a great actor as well. Just a little side note I didn't expect Jonah Hill to have so much range. But he does and he's awesome. 21 Jump Street was absolutely HILARIOUS and with its rousing success the 2nd installment into this surprise franchise has come in the form of 22 Jump Street. There was a big rumor going around about LeBron James being the lead in Space Jam 2. Which I thought was a big big mistake by the way. The first Space Jam was cute and a little funny (actually it was hella funny with Bill Murray in it), but I just don't see the point of a sequel. Nothing against Lebron there was just no need for the second movie in my book.

However, this movie new movie that LeBron's name is being attached too doesn't sound all that promising either. Here's the plot of the movie: Kevin's character is tired of living in the shadow of his basketball icon brother (i.e. LeBron James) and decides to make a few changes in his life. Kevin and a few of his friends head to Miami to attend a fantasy basketball camp and he decides right then and there that this is his chance to prove himself. Sounds simply enough right? Despite the simplistic and somewhat vague plot I'm willing to give it a chance for one reason...Kevin Hart. I absolutely adore Kevin Hart. He's really funny, he's very easy on the eyes, and he's very honest about his life and I can appreciate that. I think he would be my main reason for watching the movie.

It sounds simple enough and similar to another movie that we've seen before e.g. the Sixth Man. Do you remember that movie? Kadeem Hardison and Marlon Wayans were brothers in the movie. Marlon's character was also living in his brothers shadow (which he had no problem doing) and Kadeem Hardison was the college basketball, NBA bound star. One night he had a game went for the dunk and had a heart attack on the court. He died shortly afterwards but came back in ghost form to help his team win the championship. Long story short Marlon's character finally came into his own and was able to get past his brother's death and live his life for himself. It was a good movie and it was very funny. I just hope that Ballers doesn't mimic the movie TOO much. Its already off to a good start nobody dies and comes back as a ghost so that is a good sign lol.

No word on when this will hit the big screen. Currently Kevin Hart is working on the script with hopes of filming after the NBA season next spring! This will be LeBron's first feature film but it doesn't really require much acting because he's already the character he's playing he just doesn't have any brothers or sisters to worry about (that he knows of).

Kevin Hart has two other movies coming out within the next couple of months Grudge Match starring Slyvester Stallone and Robert DeNiro due out December 25th. And Ride Along starring Ice Cube, Tika Sumpter and John Leguizamo. If a trailer for Ballers is released sometime next year I will definitely update this blog.



























Trailer for Ride Along. Its like a really hilarious Training Day but without all the politics and killing. Kevin is a security guard who signs up for the police academy. In the midst of his new career he finds himself in love with his longtime girlfriend and plans to propose but there's only one problem, her over protective hard assed brother. Who happens to be a detective. When Kevin asks for his sisters hand in marriage, her brother decides to take him on a Ride Along. The Ride Along is to show him the ropes of the day to day life of a cop as well as scare him off his sister.



Trailer for Grudge Match. A movie about 2 washed up boxers who return to the ring for one final bout. Slyvester Stallone and Robert DeNiro had a bitter rivalry and each won 1 fight against the other. When Slyvester Stallone's character retires the two's final fight was cancelled and their rivalry was never settled. Years later their manager comes to them with a proposition to be apart of a game. Their intense rivalry heats up via a viral video of the two old fighters duking it out at a game studio. A $100,000 request for a final fight drops into their laps and the Grudge Match begins!

Mark Wahlberg has a movie coming out on December 27th called Lone Survivor. It tells the TRUE story of a small 10 man Navy SEALS team and “Operation Red Wing”, the failed 2005 mission in which they were sent into Afghanistan on an impossible mission to capture or kill a high Taliban operative one of Osama Bin Laden's close men. Things go awry when the small band is ambushed by overwhelming enemy forces. Rumor has it that this film is Academy Award worthy (Like Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker, Jarhead, etc). 

For actors to sit there and talk about ‘oh I went to SEAL training’? I don’t give a f-ck what you did. You don't do what these guys did. For somebody to sit there and say my job was as difficult as being in the military? How f-cking dare you, while you sit in a makeup chair for two hours.

The movie theatre business is rolling along nicely! The Butler is academy award worthy and proving so in the box office. The Butler reportedly made $25,010,000 in its opening weekend. Surpassing its competition who also debuted this past weekend; Kick-Ass 2 the high octane violent action adventure movie set to make major waves this summer. It didn't do bad but it was ousted by The Butler. As I said before The Butler reportedly took in $25,010,000 where as Kick Ass 2 took in about $13,568,000 (its not bad but by movie standards and because its a sequel it's not excellent either especially when Kick Ass did so much better). There are 2 other movies that debuted this weekend as well the biofilm Jobs and the wall street con film Paranoia. Both doing significantly bad in the box office but I would chalk that up to their release and marketing.

Anyway I'm glad The Butler is doing well. If it is nominated it will be Lee Daniels second film to nominated for an Academy Award. Lee Daniels also directed Precious starring Gabourey Sidibe and Monique.

The Butler has an all-star cast: Mariah Carey, Forest Whitaker, Terrence Howard, Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz, Oprah Winfrey, Cuba Gooding Jr, Robin Williams, John Cusack, Jane Fonda, James Marsden, and so many more! The Butler follows the life of a african american working in the white house as a butler to several of the United States most famous presidents. But instead of focusing on just the presidents and his interactions with them it more so focuses on the butler himself. It also displays how he and family dealt the various movements in America (from the Civil Rights movement to the Vietnam War) and how it affected his family.

As a 90s kid I loved the shows that were out during that time. Cartoons were toons funny but relatable like Doug, Recess, Pepper Ann, X-Men, Batman: The Series, the list goes on and on. I loved Daria on MTV. She was soo cool to me even though she was considered a nerd on her show. Daria was a cartoon TV show on MTV about a really smart nerdy girl who was an outcast in her town, school, and amongst her family. She never got excited about ANYTHING! The show was just about her making her way through high school and never changing who she was to fit into some mold of what was cool or considered "normal". Daria was Daria and she liked it that way, and so did I! I was heartbroken when Daria ended and I wished they would've done a
movie. They gave the most idiotic show on MTV ever (Beavis and Butthead) a movie, actually they had a couple movies. I wish they would've given Daria her own movie. So when I saw this funny video online from CollegeHumor I was so happy but kind of upset when I realized that this was simply an elaborate trailer of a movie that was never going to happen. But never the less the
trailer (regardless of the fact that its FAKE) is awesome and Aubrey Plaza is the perfect actress for this part. She is Daria in Live Action form! The trailers hilarious and I hope someone makes a Kickstarter campaign or something to make this REAL!

Well Ladies and Gents it seems like Hollywood is in the business of remakes! From Alice in Wonderland to Snow White. Even Red Riding Hood got a live action film. Even though Cinderella has been remade before (there are even sequels to the films Cinderella II and III) this another installment for the Big Screen!

I was a big fan of the original Cinderella film. I can't wait to see how they create this Cinderella. The other remakes of Cinderella that were big hits for both TV and Film my favorites: Ever After; A Cinderella Story and of course Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella.

Ever After was a unique form in the way it was portrayed by all the actors involved. In this movie only one of the sisters was wicked along with her step mother. It was still at its core about Cinderella, but in this case it was a more in depth story of her fallout with her step mother and how it came to be a major division in their household.


In Rodgers and Hammerstein's version the cast was very eclectic. Two wicked step daughters one african american one white. An African American Queen, Caucasian King, and a Asian Prince. It was a very very diverse cast but the acting was sublime and you almost forgot about the ethnicity of the cast.





Anyway I can't wait for the adaptation of Cinderella. It'll be interesting to see what spins they put on Cinderella or if they change it at all. But with this cast, I don't think Cinderella is going to be a verbatim adaptation of the 1956 Animated film. I think there will be some twists and turns in that. I can't wait.

No release date for the "Cinderella" reboot has been announced yet, but filming is reported to begin this fall in London.
