The Entertainment of Life

Alicia Keys has always been a favorite of mine. I love her music and she's evolved so much over the years. Listening to her music from her first album to the last is like listening to her grow and change. And now she's got a new single called It's On Again featuring the rap artist of the year Mr. Kendrick Lamar.

This song It's On Again is off of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 soundtrack it sounds like a mash up of R&B and Disco with a little bit of Hip Hop. Seems like a nod at the Queen of Disco Donna Summer. The song was produced by Oscar nominated producer Pharrell Williams (who makes a cameo in the video along side Alicia and Kendrick). In the beginning it comes across as a hardcore Kendrick track. But as it moves past Kendrick's rough and edgy verse it turns into this cool smooth Disco/R&B track. Kendrick Lamar added that element of edgy rock/rap to the song. Its a unique song and it really showcases Alicia Key's diversity. She can mix and mash different elements of genres together but still make it her own. Which in my book is really cool!
