Well now NBC is throwing their hat into the game with: Emerald City. Emerald City is a dark twisted re-imagining of the 14 book series Oz by L. Frank Baum. NBC has been very dark and raw with their new shows in the past few years haven't they? Very end of the world/horror style shows. It's a little creepy. Anyway here's is the synopsis via NBC.com:
Desperate for clues that will lead to the identity of her biological mother, a young woman breaks into a sinister underground facility somewhere in the Midwest. Unable to complete her mission and surrounded by security, our feisty heroine steals a K9 police dog and drives away into the night... and headlong into the path of a raging tornado. In the blink of an eye, she is transported to another world, one far removed from our own - a mystical land of competing kingdoms, lethal warriors, dark magic and a bloody battle for supremacy. This is the fabled Land of Oz in a way you've never seen before, where wicked witches don't stay dead for long and 20-year-old Dorothy Gale becomes a headstrong warrior who holds the fate of kingdoms in her hands. You're not in Kansas anymore, and this is not your grandmother's Oz.So from the synopsis alone I want to watch this show. I hate that my DVR can only record 2 episodes at a time. Directv step ya game up patna! I need to record some of the fall shows. Or they need to put some of this stuff on on Saturdays and Sundays. Saturdays especially. Literally nothing but crap comes on standard television. I need quality TV on Saturdays so NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX I need you to invest in weekend television and not just Sunday either!
Anyway Emerald City will debut this fall. It will be a part of the fall season sweeps as all new shows are. I think it will definitely get past the sweeps. Hopefully it will become a strong rival for Once Upon a Time! Once Upon a Time is also planning on including Dorothy in their fairy tale smash hit (just like countless other characters: . But because the two shows are going in very very different directions one will not interfere with the other. So will you be watching Emerald City this fall?
Emerald City is coming soon to NBC!
