New Movie Releases in 2013 Part 1: The Goods

4/05/2013 01:32:00 AM

So I'm a HUGE movie buff, LOVE Movies. I'm always shopping around for the next flick! I TROLL (LMAO) the blogs constantly every few months to see the new movies coming out for the next couple months and sometimes I can see the movies for the next year. Well this year there are some new movies coming out that I can't wait to see and then there are others that I wish would go back in the vault. These are the ones I like, this is Part 1: The Goods.

Comedies of 2013

Lol, let get started with a movie I really want to see and can't wait till it comes out This Is the End:

This trailer ROCKS! I'm a big fan of James Franco, Seth Rogen, Craig Robinson, and Jonah Hill. According to ScreenRant.com here's the official synopsis:
As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside.  Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.
Other surprising actors/artists in this funny film are: Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, David Krumholtz, Martin Starr, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, Craig Robinson, Aziz Ansari, Kevin Hart and Michael Cera. It's Gonna be a Laugh Fest!

Release Date:  June 14th, 2013

Kevin Hart's Let Me Explain:

Probably one of my personal all time favorite comedians is getting another stand up movie. With the raging success of his first movie Laugh at My Pain grossing over 7.7 Million Dollars. Lionsgate has decided to do it AGAIN! Let Me Explain was Kevin Hart's 2012 comedy tour. Performing in 10 countries, 80 cities, Kevin Hart's ticket sales grossed well over 32 million! Let Me Explain will chronicle of his recent life trials and in true Kevin Hart fashion he'll turn his sadness into comedy Gold!

Rating: Rated R
Release Date: July 4, 2013 (Limited Release)

Next up is Pain and Gain:

Pain and Gain stars Anthony Mackie, Mark Wahlberg (one of my favorite actors for obvious reasons) and of course Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson. This movie is about 3 muscle heads who are looking to have the American dream. In their case they are going to  kidnap a criminal mogul (played by Tony Shalhoub and hold him for ransom, sounds easy enough LOL. Besides having to go up against a rival who is idiotically trying to capture the same dream, with the same plan and having to contend with a criminal enterprise its not very likely that things are going to go smoothly. The movie combines good looking muscle bound guys, with beautiful women, explosions and comedy, a Michael Bay fan's dream movie! LOL not something I'm dying to see and definitely not going to pay 10 bucks to see it on the big screen. I'll wait for cable :)!
Rating: Rated R
Release Date: April 26th, 2013!

Peeples:

Well this light-hearted comedy stars Craig Robinson and Kerry Washington. The movie basically centers around a kind lovable guy whose trying desperately to mingle and integrate himself into his girlfriends rich and powerful family. This movie is along the line of Guess Whose Coming to Dinner, Meet the Parents, and so on and so forth. Other cast members are the always beautiful and gracious Diahann Carroll, David Alan Grier, and more. Seems like a really cute, feel good movie about family its dysfunctional nature and how to over come it. Plus Tyler Perry's directing it so it will have that component to it at some point if he touches (Love You Tyler Perry ;)
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: May 10, 2013

Grown Ups 2:

The Grown Ups 1 was a pretty cool movie. It was seriously funny and it did bring up some issues with people perpetrating their lives to their friends and family. Well in Grown Ups 2 things are a little different check out the synopsis:
The all-star comedy cast from "Grown Ups" returns (with some exciting new additions) for more summertime laughs. Lenny (Adam Sandler) has relocated his family back to the small town where he and his friends grew up. This time around, the grown ups are the ones learning lessons from their kids on a day notoriously full of surprises: the last day of school
Rating: PG-13 (Strong Parental Guidance)
Release Date: July 12, 2013

Action/Adventure/Fantasy 2013

There are some action/adventure/fantasy films out for this year such as G.I. Joe: Retaliation & Oz the Great and Powerful. There are several other films coming out this year that I am particularly interested in.

Starting with The Wolverine:

Well according to many critics and other movie buffs X-Men Origins: Wolverine was not a good look for the horn haired hero. After the 2009 movie's release they saw that the reviews and the box office ticker weren't exactly positive. So Hugh Jackman (whose very involved with the process) and the studio decided that this movie needed to be completely different from its counterparts. The Wolverine follows Logan to Japan where he ends up facing yet another villain from his past. If I tell you anymore it would ruin the trailer. Watch the trailer above and I promise you, it will give you everything you need to know about this movie! ;)

Next Up 2 Guns:

Well after reading up about this one I can clearly say I'm totally lost but intrigued . I really want to see this movie. Two of my favorite actors ever Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg are in the lead characters in this movie. Apparently there is a big heist going down and there are 2 agencies scoping it out: the DEA and Naval Intelligence. Well naturally both agencies have decided to put undercover agents (Wahlberg and Washington) into the criminal master minds fold and it works out until the heist actually goes down. Neither of the undercover agents know about the other and it causes chaos during the heist. Other big names in this movie James Marsden, Paula Patton, Bill Paxton, and Edward James Olmos

Seems like a good movie to check out and you gotta love Denzel Washington in good shape still able to do it all action suspense, drama. One of the greatest actors of all time!

Of Course Iron Man 3:

The third installment of the Iron Man franchise and it comes out swinging. The first Iron Man introduced us to the man and the machine. The second Iron Man helped us to understand him coping with his new found power and the longevity of his life. But this Iron Man is different. In this movie Iron Man aka Tony Stark has to come to grips with the responsibility he has gained because of his heroism. His public will expect him to be perfect at all times and in this movie Tony has to prove himself in a big way.

The basic plot line is there is a terrorist on the loose called the Mandarin (if your a comic book reader you would know exactly what the plot for this movie would entail). The Mandarin's first task is to take out their only problem Iron Man and they try in a big way. Afterwards Tony embarks on a quest to stop at nothing to save the world from an seemingly untouchable, relentless evil faction. The original cast is back from Iron Man 2 (with the exception of Scarlett Johansen) Gwyneth Paltrow, Roberty Downey, Jr, Don Cheadle and the new faces Guy Pearce,. Ben Kingsley, Jon Favreau, and Paul Bettany.

Rating: Not Yet Rated (But I Expect PG-13 Strong Parental Guidance)

And then there was Kick-Ass 2:

If you have no concept of what Kick Ass 1 was about then I can explain in a short summary. Dave Lizewski is a geeky, nerdy kid in New York city. He's a kid unlucky in love and life. Dave gets tired of being a punching bag one day and decides he wants to be a super hero. He buys a costumer online and begins to fight crime. The only problem is he's got no fighting skills what so ever and he ends getting his ass kicked a lot. So he adopts the name Kick-Ass. Unbeknown to him there are 2 other masked heroes that want him to join their operation (they have their own agenda but no worries they are still good guys). Eventually the trio ends up going up against the biggest crime boss in the city and takes him down at the cost of one of their own.

Now take a look at the trailer and you'll see why Kick-Ass 2 is so awesome! It's a different storyline from what you would normally get in super hero movies (which I love by the way!). Its a great concept. Normal people just working toward a common goal. Eradicating the crime in their beautiful city. Believe me this movie is not meant for the easily offended. This movie is raunchy, gritty, and action packed. 2 good things about the movie that I really love. 1- the character Dave aka Kick-Ass has bulked up (I mean he was a cute kid in the first place but now he's hot!) which is always a good thing and learned how to fight! 2 - Its got Jim Carey in it! I mean come on!

I can't wait for the Ass Kicking to begin!

Drama/Romance/Thriller

And Finally...The Great Gatsby:

I LOVE this movie poster I had to include it!

First off when I was in high school The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald was on the list of books to read, along with books like Great Expectations by Charles Dickens and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. It was an interesting read when I was in high school. I even decided since the book was so captivating that I would watch the movie. In 1974 director Jay Clayton was selected to direct the original version of The Great Gatsby. I watched it and I wasn't too thrilled. I didn't like how it played out. I don't know maybe I was too hard on the movie. But anywho its getting a remake and I'm so glad cause from the trailers it looks so promising! Here's the synopsis of The Great Gatsby:
"The Great Gatsby" follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super-rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.
Crazy, right? If you like movies that have a strong since of thriller, twist, intrigue, love, lust, pain, heartache, manipulation, and sex appeal then the Great Gatsby is your movie!!!! I'm definitely going to see this movie. It looks like something that would captivate me all the way through!

Rating: PG-13 or R (I'm not sure will update soon)
Release Date: May 10, 2013
