Harold Ramis name probably isn't something you would associate with comedic gold. But if your a child of the late 70s, 80s and early 90s then you would know some of the most classic comedy films of those decades. Harold Ramis got his biggest peace of fame when he penned National Lampoon's Animal House. He then went on to co-write some of the biggest comedic and classic films in Hollywood. Films like National Lampoon's Vacation, Meatballs, Stripes, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, and Groundhog.

Harold Ramis died from complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, which is a rare disease that involves swelling of the blood vessels at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife Erica Mann, his daughter, Violet, his sons Julian and Daniel, and two grandchildren.

Rest in Peace Mr. Ramis. You were the pioneer of the comedy genre. And you put some many careers in motion Jim Belushi, Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Billy Crystal, and inspired so many others. Others like Adam Sandler, Judd Apatow, Jay Roach, Peter and Bobby Farrelly. Many people were touched by your genius and in your films you will live on.
