TV Shows don't last long anymore do they? WWE's Monday Night Raw, MASH, Law and Order, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, etc. All long running sitcoms, reality, and drama television shows. They don't make shows like those anymore (excluding Monday Night Raw). What could be the reason for shorter TV shows? People lose interest I guess, the storyline isn't strong enough, or the ratings have dropped either way shows air time is getting shorter and shorter. Shows usually don't last past 5 seasons or on a good series 7 seasons.

Well with that being said Californication, Showtime's break out comedy series is ending its run after this coming season. The president of Showtime praised the shows brash hard hitting storyline. Here's what he said:

"With its unique blend of lyricism and excess, Californication has been one of our groundbreaking signature series. We will always be indebted to [creator] Tom Kapinos for leading the creative charge on this memorable comedy, and to David Duchovny for making us root for an unapologetic hedonist like Hank Moody…"

If you've never seen Californication its about a man named Hank Moody. He's a drug addicted, sexually charged writer/professor with a slew of other problems that are plaguing his troubling and crazy life (most of these problems are self inflicted e.g. mistresses, bad parenting, promiscuity the list goes on). Californication has been on 7 Seasons and its had everything from sex, lies, deception, bad parenting, stupid decisions, etc. I like the show. Its the kind of show you can live vicariously through the character. One of the reasons that I like the show.

I'm sad to see Californication go. I wasn't an avid watcher (every now and then I would sit down and watch it) but I have watched it a couple times and I gotta say its a good show. So I guess we'll have to wait for Showtimes next hit. But don't fret Showtime has plenty other series that are awesome: shows like House of Lies with Don Cheadle, Ray Donovan, Nurse Jackie, Masters of Sex, Shameless and more! Showtime is an award winning network. They pump great adult comedies and dramas that keep you on the edge of your seat.
